NCRPO TEAMS UP WITH TESDA-NCR FOR BASIC SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF 500 FAMILIES

Team NCRPO under the leadership of PMGEN Vicente D Danao Jr, initiated a Livelihood Skills Training in partnership with the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority (TESDA).

Through PCOL Julius C Suriben, Chief Regional Community Affairs and Development Division met with Mr. Rizal S Bautista, Administrator, TESDA-NCR via Zoom on September 1, 2021, regarding the Community Based Livelihood Skills Training on Basic Solar Panel Installation.

This endeavor aims to benefit and boost the well being of the 500
families occupying a lot owned by BANCO FILIPINO at Sitio Bakal, Brgy Silangan, Quezon City which has a pending case with BSP. The residents were formerly organized by Rodel Adio using the PINAGKAISANG LAKAS NG MAMAMAYAN, an allied organization of KADAMAY. According to the elders ,they have been there for over 20 years. The residents are composed mostly of Bisaya Bicolano and Ilocanos.

RD DANAO learned that 70% of the residence in the area do not have electricity, thus, the initial support 100 solar panel for installation for the first batch of house hold. All the house hold in the area will have their own solar panel, however it will be installed by batches.

In addition, the skills training intends to introduce the use of renewable energy and in support to the government’s MALASAKIT Program. This is also to extend help through distribution of basic solar light kits in barangays and household with limited lighting system as well as to provide alternative lighting system during power outage. ###
