*NCRPO:  Security Preparations and Traffic Re-Routing Scheme for BBM Inauguration, Ironed Out*

The National Capital Region Police Office is geared up for the Inauguration/Oath-taking Ceremony of the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines, H.E. FERDINAND ROMUALDEZ MARCOS JR, on June 30, 2022 at the National Museum of the Philippines with PMGEN Felipe R Natividad as the commander of the overall security for the said event.

To ensure success, zero casualty and any untoward incident in the upcoming inauguration, final security preparation have been finalized and laid down. This is to guarantee smooth transition of political leadership in the country amid the continuing threat of the current health crisis.

Relative to this, the airspace within one kilometer radius of the National Museum will be declared as “no fly and no drone flying zone” as well as all the ports and waterways will be secured to preempt entry of would-be saboteurs.

Further, three days before the said event Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) in Manila and Pasay City from 6:00 AM of June 27, 2022 to 6:00 AM of July 1, 2022 will be suspended. Only members of the PNP, AFP and other Law Enforcement Agencies who are performing official duties in prescribed uniforms will be authorized to carry firearms.

As heavy traffic will be expected particularly in roads leading to and from the National Museum, the public is therefore advised to be aware of the following road closures such as: stretch of P. Burgos Ave. from Taft Ave to Roxas Blvd; stretch of Finance Rd from P. Burgos to Taft Ave; stretch of TM Kalaw Ave from Taft Ave to Roxas Blvd; stretch of Ma. Orosa St. from P. Burgos Ave to TM Kalaw Ave; stretch of Gen. Luna St. from P. Burgos Ave to Muralla St; stretch of C Victoria St from Taft Ave to Muralla St; and stretch of Ayala Blvd from Gen Solano St. to Taft Ave.

The “No Backpack Policy” in all VIP engagement areas will also be implemented. This is to help security forces monitor more easily potential terror threats during the said occasion.

The NCRPO under the leadership of RD Natividad have contingency plans in place to instantly address unexpected recurring problems.

“We have not monitored any threat ahead as of this moment but we are continuously and closely monitoring and coordinating with our counterparts. Let me reiterate my plead to everyone to think of your safety as it is our ultimate concern. Kami po sa NCRPO ay ginagawa ang lahat upang masigurado na magiging matagumpay ang nalalapit na inagurasyon ng ating bagong Pangulo.” said PMGEN Natividad
