NCRPO Recovers Firearms Issued to Erring Police Personnel including PSSG Nuesca’s Firearms

The National Capital Region Police Office under the helm of PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR lauds the extraordinary effort of the NCRPO Regional Task.Group led by PCOL DARIO M MENOR, Chief, RLRDD in the implementation of LOI BAWI Operations in the provinces of Tarlac and Cavite which led to the recovery of PNP-NCRPO Issued Firearms from dismissed and AWOL police personnel.

Based on the report dated November 24, 2021, NCRPO recovered a total of four (4) firearms to include that belonging to former Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca – the ex-police officer who killed a mother and her son after a heated argument in Paniqui Tarlac last December 2020.

The PNP focused its effort on the resolution of the case in line with its invigorated internal cleansing effort which led to the conviction of the accused for two (2) counts of murder on August 26, 2021.

“I am impressed with the speedy recovery of these firearms from erring police personnel who are unworthy not only of the trust and confidence bestowed upon them by the people but more so of the uniform which represents the PNP organization” said PMGEN DANAO JR.

After due coordination with the court handling the case, it was found out that Nuesca’s firearms was not presented as evidence hence, does not fall under the jurisdiction of the court. Consequently, coordination was made with Paniqui Municipal Police Station and with Tarlac PNP Crime Laboratory for the recovery of the weapon.

Relatedly, three more firearms were recovered composed of a Beretta 9mm caliber pistol belonging to former Patrolman on AWOL status and who was involved in a case of robbery with frustrated homicide. The weapon was submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame, Quezon City for further examination on May 2, 2017. After the case has been decided by RTC Branch of Parañaque, a request which was subsequently granted was made for the release of the firearms.

In addition to this, recovered were a Thompson .45 caliber pistol with one magazine and a Beretta 9mm caliber pistol both from dismissed police personnel.

The intensification of operations relative to the recovery of issued weapons from erring police personnel was in line with Letter Order No. 96 re- Regional Task Group on LOI 001/2002 “OPLAN BAWI” which was reiterated by the CPNP through a memorandum issued by the Directorate for Logistic dated January 12, 2021, dagdag pa niya RD DANAO.###
