NCRPO Reached out to Urban Farmers in Quezon City

Amid the noisy urban life and complications of the City, NCRPO through its current Chief, PMGEN VICENTE was surprised to find a Sitio in Quezon City inhabited mostly by farmer families.

Reaching out to probably one of the few remaining hidden farms in Metro Manila, Team NCRPO conducted a five-in-one outreach activity this 20th day of August, 2021 in Sitio Bakal, Brgy Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

Among the project launched was the “NCRPO PALAYANihan” or “Rice Planting Barangayanihan”. Chiefs of different offices such as the C, RCADD, FC of RMFB and FC of QCPD led other NCRPO Personnel in helping the farmers of the Sitio plant rice in order to alleviate their hardships and cut the time they needed had they planted on their own. This initiative paved the way for them to have more quality time with their families and loved ones.

Moreover, in the same event, teams RCADD and RMFB of NCRPO; and Teams DCADD and DMFB, QCPD also distributed food packs and health kits for the 500 Urban families of the locality who were severely affected by the economic impact of the stricter implementation of community quarantine protocols to curb the proliferation of covid 19 pandemic.

A ground breaking activity in line with NCRPO SIBOL “Well of Life” Water System Project was also launched wherein RD NCRPO donated a clean water source which is expected to benefit more than 500 families. It was attended to by the Project Partners, the District Director of QCPD, PBGEN ANTONIO C YARRA; the Chief RCADD, PCOL JULIUS C SURIBEN; Force Commander of RMFB, PCOL. LAMBERT A SUERTE; PCOL MARIO MAYAMES, Chief, PPFSU; Brgy Chairman Cara, Leady Eagles Club led by its President, Ms Marilou Lee, CVOs and the Beneficiaries.

In addition to these programs, a “Barangay Ugnayan” and Livelihood Seminar were also held wherein Team NCRPO shared how indispensable community participation is in the fight against all forms of criminality, illegal drugs and terrorism. Income-generating skills training were also conducted to bolster the capability of the community in increasing its income and providing additional source of living while waiting for the crops to grow.

The community wholeheartedly thanked the elements of NCRPO and its Regional Director, PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR for reaching out to the most vulnerable sectors of society no matter where they are.
