NCRPO – PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR commends Mandaluyong City Police Station, Eastern Police District under PCOL GAUVIN MEL Y UNOS, Chief of Police for their successful undertaking as they signs MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) with Barangay Addition Hills in their “Palit Basura” Project (“SAVE ECOWASTE TO RATIONS”) on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Conference Room, PNP BJMP Bldg, City Government Complex, Maysilo Circle, Plainview, Mandaluyong City.

Barangay Addition Hills as the prime mover of the Eco-bricks Project dubbed as “Palit Basura”, was represented by Barangay Chairman Carlito Tolibas Cernal and his council, Hon. Angeline I. Panoso, Hon. Dionisio G. Buen, Hon. Linda F. Fabula, Hon. Ailyne P. Carandang, Brgy Sec. Jessa Natad, and coordinator designated at the Material Recovery Facility.

Mandaluyong City Police Station was represented by PCOL GAUVIN MEL Y UNOS, Chief of Police, PLTCOL MARLON J MALLORCA (ACOPA), PMAJ JOEL S PERALTA (ACOPO), and PLT JURANA B OLLAGING (C, SCAS).

“Palit Basura” (SAVE ECOWASTE TO RATIONS) Project is a concerted initiative of Mandaluyong City Police Station and Barangay Addition Hills that enthusiastically carry out an environmental advocacy that underlines proper waste disposal and management that strives towards an improved, reasonable and sustainable solid waste management system.

Also, this project not only targets the alarming ecological issues but also aims to provide livelihood opportunities for the community. This is part of the Project SIBOL (Simula ng Bagong Oportunidad sa Lipunan) of the NCRPO, Regional Director, PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR, under its EnTEng (Engaging, Transforming and Empowering) program which based on the ELCAC Line of Effort Number 6(Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster/PRLEC) by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) for its whole-of-nation approach through convergence and good governance. As this project aims to alleviate societal difficulties especially joblessness and impoverishment and take part in stirring the government’s advocacy on End Local Communist Armed Conflict (EO 70).

This project involves active participation of the community in tackling the alarming effects of improperly disposed solid wastes that endlessly predisposes our ecology to suffer from polluted air, water and soil; thus, leaving various environmental impacts, and causing health hazards (cholera, malaria, typhoid, etc.) to the inhabitants.

The PNP and the Barangay will team up in recompensing the effort of the community by providing food packs in exchange of the five kilograms shredded solid waste (plastic wrappers and sachets) that these residents have collected.

Conversely, as indicated in the premise of the Memorandum of Agreement, Mandaluyong CPS will also be a proactive partner to the instigator and prime mover (Barangay Addition Hills Environmental Committee headed by PB Carlito T Cernal), by requiring all unit/office in installing solid wastes management and disposal bins and requiring each personnel to collect 100 plastic sachets each week to be collected citywide by the Station Community Affairs Section Office prior to submission to Barangay Addition Hills Material Recovery Facility.

PMGEN DANAO expressed his exhilaration towards the joint project of Mandaluyong CPS and Barangay Addition Hills. He is in high hope that this will a game changer to finally encourage the public to get into proper waste disposal and management.
