National Capital Region Police Office Chief, PMGEN Vicente D Danao Jr. together with Hon Benjamin Abalos Jr, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as the Guest of Honor and Speaker graced the Opening Ceremony of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Competition for the Calendar Year 2021 on July 1, 2021 at the NCRPO Grandstand, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan Taguig City.
The SAR competition is designed to ensure the preparedness of Team NCRPO, Regional Mobile Force Battalion and other counterparts in responding to natural disasters that aims to improve their capabilities both on equipment, skills and to strengthen the collaboration and coordination between each rescue unit.
The activity will be participated by 13 teams. Each team will be composed of 4 PNP personnel, 2 BFP personnel and 2 from the CDRRMO/DRRMO/MMDA rescue teams. Competing teams are from the RMFB with 2 SAR Teams, the five police district of the NCRPO with 1 DMFB Team and 1 SAR Team from selected station, to include the SAR Team of Marikina City Police Station.
The competition is divided into four phases which will last for two days. The stages of the competition are High Angle Rescue,Emergency Medical Procedure, Rescuing Covid-19 Infected Flood Victim and Rescue Boat Stage. Both the High Angle Rescue and Rescuing Covid-19 Infected Flood Victim phases were completed on the first day while the two other stages will be completed at designated venues.
Moreover, in his message during the program Chairman Abalos extended his gratitude to NCRPO for responding decisively in affected areas in the NCR during natural disasters. He likewise appreciated the conduct of SAR Competition. “Having this skills-based competitions such as this 2 days SAR training impacts our overall response and capabilities in calamity and disaster response in the NCR. This activity serves as a gauge as to how committed the PNP leadership to save life and protect the properties of our fellow Filipinos. The NCRPO thru the leadership of PMGEN Danao deserves a commendation for this worthy endeavor.” He stated.
Likewise, in his short message, PMGEN Danao directed the Regional Learning and Development Doctrine Division to continuously conduct SAR competition and training to evaluate and further enhance the capability of every policeman on the ground in saving lives. ###
