NCRPO:  3 Members of Notorious Espenilla Gun Running Syndicate  Arrested in Quezon City

In line with the intensified anti-criminality campaign of tje NCRPO, PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR lauds the elements of RSOG-RID, NCRPO led by PMAJ ARNEL L BAUTISTA, Team Leader-QC under the direct supervision of PLTCOL MELVIN R MONTANTE, Chief, RSOG-NCRPO together with personnel of DID and PS-16, QCPD for the successful entrapment operation which led to the arrest of 3 Members of Notorious Criminal Gang in the Parking Area of McDonalds Fastfood, Belfast Avenue Branch,  Brgy Pasong Putik Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City at about 1:10 AM of September 1, 2021.

The suspects were identified to be the following persons:

Suspect 1) Luis Anabi y Espenilla, 40 years old, single, and resident of Brgy. Tigbe, Norzagaray, Bulacan;

Suspect 2) Rona Castañeda y Ramos, 38 years old, married, and resident of Block 15 Lot 6, MGV Loma de Gato, Marilao, Bulacan; and

Suspect 3) Edmundo Salido y Abastillas, 45 years old, single, and resident of Brgy. Minuyan Chalo, San Jose del Monte ,Bulacan

Initial reports disclosed that they were arrested following a report from a confidential informant regarding the alleged illegal sale of high-caliber of firearms within the area of Quezon City by aka “Luis” the leader of the newly identified “ESPENILLA Gun Running syndicate Group” operating within the Province of Bulacan, Region 3 and Metro Manila.

Further probe  revealed that the M4 rifle is being sold for Php 160,000.00 each while the Shotgun is sold for Php 40,000.00.

The other suspects namely RONA CASTAÑEDA and EDMUNDO SALIDO were also identified as members of the criminal group mainly responsible in the selling/dealing of firearms to other lawless elements, personalities and politicians in relation to the upcoming national elections and other criminal activities.

Recovered from the suspects were the following pieces of evidence :

  1. a) one (1) unit shotgun rifle;

b)one (1) magazine of shotgun;

  1. c) three (3) live 12 gauge ammunition;
  2. d) two (2) units of M4 rifle
  3. e) two (2) magazines of M4 rifle;
  4. f) thirteen (13) live 5.56 ammunition;
  5. g) one (1) unit multicab color white with plate no. MFK 421 with OR and CR;
  6. h) two (2) wallets with different Identification Cards, BDO ATM, Remittance and Calling Cards;
  7. i) three (3) units of cellular phones; and
  8. j) buy-bust money with boodle money.

“Binabati ko po ang ating mga kasamahan sa matagumpay na paglalatag ng entrapment operation laban sa grupong ito at pagkahuli sa kanilang lider at dalawa pang miyembro. Lubhang nakakabahala ang pagkadiskubre natin sa grupong ito lalo pa at ang kanilang operasyon ay may kinalaman hindi lamang sa kriminalidad, bagkus ay sa nalalapit na Pambansang Halalan. Nakikiusap po ako sa ating mamamayan na sakaling may karagdagang impormasyon hinggil dito ay agarang  makipag ugnayan po sila sa pinakamalapit na tanggapan ng pulisya sa kanilang lugar.” Wika ni PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR.

The suspects were taken under police custody at the RSOG Office, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City pending the filing of appropriate charges for violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.###
