METRO MANILA ENTERED 2021 GENERALLY PEACEFUL

The intensified presence of police officers to ensure security and safety measures of New Year’s Eve throughout Metro Manila resulted into a generally peaceful celebration for everyone.

The Acting Regional Director of National Capital Region Police Office PBGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR affirmed that no major firecracker-related incident, indiscriminate firing, or firecracker-related conflagrations were recorded.

The men and women of NCRPO were deployed within the streets of the region to guarantee the full implementation of “Ligtas Paskuhan 2020” campaign that minimized criminalities, prevented possible terrorist attack, prohibited the use of illegal firecrackers, administered COVID 19 health and safety protocols and provided swift assistance to the members of the communities.

“We may have recorded four (4) illegal discharge of firearms involving two (2) PNP personnel, one (1) Barangay Kagawad and one (1) other civilian, we can still say that 2021 entered peacefully compared to the past years,” ARD Danao said.

NCRPO apprehended (6) six violators of the firecracker, confiscated more than 516,788 pieces of firecrackers in the entire region, recorded one (1) incident of stray bullet and one (1) fire incident due to firecrackers. There are also a total four (4) victims or injured due to Firecrackers in Metro as of 6:00 am, January 1.

PBGEN DANAO also acknowledged the support and cooperation of the public throughout the Yuletide Season. According to him, the good camaraderie among police and community became a great factor in the realization of peaceful Metro-wide revelry.

“2020 has been a very tedious & challenging time for all of us. But despite all of these we were able to surpass the year with FLYING COLORS. Nonetheless, the public can assure that we will continuously maximize our personnel on the ground and religiously implement the protocols on Covid 19 especially in crowded areas,” said PBGEN DANAO.
