6 DEAD, 33 INJURED IN CALOOCAN CITY JAIL RIOT, WARDEN RELIEVED
NCRPO – PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR announced that a riot broke out inside the Caloocan City Jail wherein six (6) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) died on January 10, 2022 at around 3:30 PM.
Initial investigation reports from PBGEN JOSE S HIDALGO JR, District Director, NPD disclosed that the riot ensued after a heated altercation while PDLs were engaging in a coin game locally known as Cara y Cruz. Duty jail guards of the Caloocan City Jail later discovered the lifeless bodies of the 6 victims and 33 injured who were immediately brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for medical treatment.
Six victims who died were identified as Arturo Biasa; Hans Omar (both members commando gang); Sherwin Perez; John Patrick Chicko (both members of Sputnik Gang); Joel Adrino Pineda; and Joel Santaguda Bakanigra (both members of commando gang) who both died while being in transport from one hospital to another.
During the incident, two (2) personnel of the Caloocan City BJMP identified as JINSP FREEDOM C MONDEIA and JO1 Niño Sarmiento were also wounded and are now undergoing medical treatment.
As a result of the riot, Supt. Lloyd Gonzaga has been appointed as officer in charge (OIC) of the facility, replacing Jail Supt. Neil Subibi after being relieved from the post.

Kahit na po sila ay nasa loob ng kulungan at may mga nagawang krimen, hindi po ibig sabihin nito ay hahayaan na po nating may mangyaring masama sa kanila o gaya nga po nito na binawian ng buhay.
