36 CORE LEADERS AND 807 MEMBERS CONDEMN LEFTIST IDEOLOGY & ATROCITIES

In line with the NCRPO’s continued efforts to support EO 70 End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), PMGEN VICENTE D DANAO JR facilitated the voluntary surrender of 36 core leaders along with 807 personalities who signed their Renunciation of Membership in the leftist movement and who consequently took their Oath of Allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines on May 1, 2021.

PMGEN Danao witnessed the simultaneous events held all over Metro Manila, via Zoom.

“This is a momentous occasion that signifies how the leftist movement is now being abandoned by its key leaders and general membership.”, said Danao.

During the event, two leaders shared their testimonies of how they were misled by leftist recruiters who promised “pabahay, pailaw, at patubig” to encourage them to join the movement. None of these basic services were delivered and instead, they all lived under impoverished conditions for many years.

As proof of their willingness to rejoin civil society, a ceremonial release of doves which symbolizes peace, hope, and freedom and the burning of the NDF, KMU and Gabriella flags were conducted together with NCRPO Command Group, Police Officers and JTF staff.

The JTF-NCR Commander, BGEN MARCELIANO V TEOFILO, represented by one among his officers, expressed his unwavering support to the NCRPO. He expressed that hand and hand; the two organizations can broker the peace and serve as the bridge of reconciliation between government and rebel returnees.

Meanwhile, PMGEN DANAO JR in his speech, emphasized that in as much as the government would like to immediately provide them with their needs, the current health pandemic limits the assistance that is available to all. Still, RD PMGEN Danao assured them the NCRPO along with JTF-NCR will accelerate its efforts to ensure that their reintegration into society will be provided with the best possible support.

The NCRPO Chief also assured them that the PNP will serve as the voice of these returnees in reaching out to various governments agencies and institutions for whatever assistance they may need.

The ceremony ended with the mass singing of “Ang Bayan Ko” and lighting of candles done by all of the participants.###
