*NCRPO: SONA 2022 Gun Ban Bagged 55 Violators, 33 Firearms & 237 Deadly Weapons*
Following the end of gun ban implementation from July 22 – 27, 2022 as part of the security measures and preparations for the recently concluded State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., PMGEN Felipe R Natividad, RD, NCRPO ensured that the gun ban is seriously implemented and violators are apprehended in accordance with the existing laws.
In spite of recording no major untoward incident that happened during the SONA, NCRPO records the arrest of 55 persons during the conduct of 48 police operations from July 22-27, 2022.
Out of this number of arrests, a total of 33 firearms were confiscated. This includes 22 short firearms and 11 other types such as sumpak, replica and paltik.
Meanwhile, 237 deadly weapons were recovered and among are 23 bladed/pointed weapons, 1 explosive/IED and 213 ammunitions.
PMGEN Natividad assures that the NCRPO will keep its guards high, continue its vigilance and maximize police presence and visibility in public places even after the gun ban period to ensure peace and order around Metro.
“I would like to thank the public for their cooperation in the implementation of gun ban. I would also like to commend the men and women of NCRPO who tirelessly work hard to ensure peaceful and safety conduct of SONA 2022.” said PMGEN Natividad.
He added, “Guaranteed that these violators will be prosecuted and penalized accordingly. This is regardless of their status in life and/or connection to anyone, the ferocity of the law will surely be applied.”
