Under fire for alleged extra-judicial killings of drug suspects, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is not about to relent on their focused campaign against illegal drugs all around the country. Instead of being held back by criticisms from various human rights advocate groups here and abroad, the PNP has stepped up the ante to meet the goal of their Commander-in-chief to suppress the illegal drugs problem of the country.
President Duterte claimed there are now four million drug addicts in the Philippines. By extrapolation, the President cited these figures were based on the estimate of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that there were at least 3.7 million Filipinos who were addicted to shabu and other narcotic substances.
POLICE OFFICER KILLED AND ANOTHER ONE WOUNDED IN A SHOOTING INCIDENT WITH AN EX-CONVICT AND HIS COHORTS
Southern Police District – PSSUPT LAWRENCE COOP, Officer-in-Charge, Pasay City Police Station reported to PCSUPT TOMAS C APOLINARIO JR, Acting District Director, SPD that PO1 Enrico Domingo was killed-in-action while his fellow officer PO2 Harley Garcera was wounded as a result of their encounter with an ex-convict and cohorts that took place at about 5:20 PM yesterday, January 4, 2017 at the Interior of Pestañas St., near cor Park Ave., Brgy. 69 Zone 9, Pasay City. One of the suspects was identified as Randy Lizardo y Cadiente, an ex-convict notorious hold-upper, member of Sigue Sigue Sputnik Gang, listed in the Pasay City Drug Watch List and a resident of the aforementioned address.
