NCRPO THANKS THE PUBLIC FOR 86% DECREASE IN INJURIES
VOWS TO GIVE JUSTICE TO EMMELYN
In line with the Chief PNP, PDG Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s directives on indiscriminate firing, stray bullets, and firecrackers’ crackdown for 2016 Christmas Celebration and New Year revelry, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) closely monitored the incidents and casualties of indiscriminate firing, stray bullets, and firecrackers during the celebrations
Based on the NCRPO’s monitoring, data on indiscriminate firing, stray bullets, and firecrackers’ incidents this year are very far low than the previous year’s record.
From December 16, 2016 to January 2, 2017, the NCRPO have recorded tremendous decrease of fire cracker incidents to only 167 as compared to the 881 firecracker incidents last year that wounded 880 and death of one (1). A reflection of 86%decrease of incidents. A remarkable accomplishment.
For Stray bullet, incidents lowered to three (3) as compared to fourteen (14) last year. On the case of Emmelyn Villanueva, 15-year-old girl, victim of a shooting incident while watching fireworks display in Malabon City, the NCRPO is now focusing on the investigation to give justice to her and her family.NCRPO Regional Director, PDIR Oscar D Albayalde reiterated that NCRPO sends prayers for her recovery and vow to her family that the NCRPO will speedily investigate her case.” Albayalde assured that justice will be served to Villanueva.
For indiscriminate firing, this year had recorded three (3) as compared to four (4) incidents last year. Albayalde assured that the three (3) officers involved in indiscriminate firing identified as PO1 Ronel Pantig assigned in Pasig City Police Station, PO1 Daniel Castillo of Raxabago Police Station and CPL Lovelyson Cutas, member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be charged accordingly. Castillo is now detained at Manila Police District, Cutas is detained Taguig City Police Station while Pantig is at large and subject for follow up operation.
Albayalde commended all NCRPO policemen who have sacrificed holidays in line of duty. He also expressed his gratitude to Local Government Units and other partner government agencies for the support and cooperation to the NCRPO undertakings; Barangay Tanods, Force Multipliers and Volunteered Groups who have helped the police in patrolling the streets and the general public for their support and cooperation well as to their awareness and observance of the law.
Now, that Yuletide Season is about to end, the NCRPO gears up to conquer the upcoming challenge in year 2017 such as The Black Nazarene Feast, The Miss Universe Competition, The ASEAN, and The Global Peace Convention. ###
