NCRPO NABBED A WANTED PERSON ACCUSED FOR MURDER CASE

The NCRPO Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) in coordination with District Special Reaction Unit (DSRU) -Eastern Police District (EPD) successfully arrested a Wanted Person at about 5:45pm of March 8, 2019 along Bank Drive near Corner Doña Julia Vargas Ave. Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The accused identified as Fernando Fernandez y Herrera, male, 40 years old, married, native of Tuguegarao, Businessman, with given address at Bago Bantay, Quezon City was arrested by virtue of Alias Warrant of Arrest with NO BAIL RECOMMENDED issued by Hon. Judge Rosa M Samson of RTC Branch 105, National Capital Judicial Region, Quezon City for the crime of MURDER dated March 14, 2016. The operation stemmed from a complaint of John Chavez, father of the victim -John Pius Chavez y Bautista, who personally appeared at RSOU office and sought police assistance for the possible arrest of the accused. Information gathered through surveillance, monitoring and lateral coordination led to the identification of the accused and his possible whereabouts. On March 8, 2019, information received from an informant that accused, who has been hiding since 2016, will be having a meeting with his client in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Operatives then proceeded thereat to confirm the information. After careful observation and tailing, operatives accosted him and successfully served his warrant of arrest. Case record revealed that an altercation transpired at the bar of Fernandez in Bago Bantay, Quezon City on June 27, 2013 around 1am - 2am. Hours later, Chavez's group passed by the bar and was recognized by the Guest Relation Officer as involved in the said fight. Fernandez then threw bottle and shouted towards Chavez's Group. The accused and his group armed with a gun, even gave warning shot that caused Chavez's to sped away. Fernandez together with his bar personnel ran after the victim. A certain Ramil- the bar's bouncer, shot Chavez at his back. Thereat, Fernandez ordered them to kill Chavez. Hence, Reyes-the bar's cashier kicked the victim while already lying on the ground. They ensured that the victim was already lifeless before leaving the scene. Fernandez then approached the GRO identified as Evelyn Mina who witnessed the crime and warned her that she did not see anything. The accused is now at RSOU Office for documentation and the warrant of arrest will be returned to its court of origin. The NCRPO Regional Director lauded the operatives for this accomplishment. He said, "Ang pagkakadakip ng mga Wanted Person ay sa tulong ng mga kababayan nating patuloy nagtitiwala sa ating mga kapulisan. Hinihikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan na ipagbigay alam at huwag matakot na ilahad ang kinaroroonan ng mga ito upang mapagbayaran nila ang kanilang mga nagawang kasalanan."
